An electrical engineer who chose to become a business owner instead.
By training, Jeff is an electrical engineer and a graduate of Kettering University, where he learned to approach complex problems systematically using data, observation, measurement, and continuous improvement. He began his engineering career managing multi-million-dollar automotive product development programs for companies including Bosch, Valeo, Ford, and General Motors, leading international engineering teams in both the United States and Thailand while applying Lean engineering principles to some of the world’s most demanding manufacturing environments. Rather than remaining in corporate engineering, Jeff eventually chose a different path — becoming a business owner. Over the next twenty-five years he launched, owned, operated, or invested in businesses across a remarkably broad range of industries, including candy vending, mortgage brokerage, rental real estate, retail stores, commercial embroidery, apparel manufacturing and export, restaurants, bars, and retail food service. One of his significant ventures was an apparel manufacturing and export company he founded outside of Bangkok, Thailand, where production grew to approximately 20,000 garments per month. Today Jeff owns and operates two Daylight Donuts locations in Tennessee, where every improvement, worksheet, checklist, and system developed for SBE is first tested in his own business before being recommended to anyone else.What 25 Years Taught Him

Working across so many different industries eventually revealed something that surprised him. Although every business sells something different, the underlying operational problems are remarkably similar. Businesses rarely struggle because of a single catastrophic mistake. Instead, they slowly become constrained by dozens of small inefficiencies, hidden assumptions, neglected systems, and poorly understood processes that accumulate over time until owners become overwhelmed, exhausted, and convinced they simply need to work harder. That realization became the foundation of Small Business Engineer. Rather than offering motivational advice, generic business coaching, or one-size-fits-all solutions, SBE applies engineering principles to small business management. The methodology teaches owners how to observe objectively, measure what matters, identify constraints, prioritize improvements, and systematically build better business systems that produce better business results.The Mission
